2023 Survey Results

Back for the fourth year, results of the 2023 Business Confidence Index (BCI) have just been released! This survey of Brampton business leaders asks about topic issues, measuring views on policy and priorities. Overall confidence is up year-over-year, with increases in the number of respondents who are confident in the city’s economic future as well as that of their own organization. Transportation infrastructure as grown significantly as a concern for business leaders (from 25% to 42%), while housing and affordable housing nearly doubled from 13% to 22%. Confidence in civic leadership has grown on the municipal level, with improvements in respondent approval of most municipal service areas that we asked about. Read the full results here!

2022 Survey Results

The 2022 Business Confidence Index results are out! For the third straight year, Brampton’s business community shared their opinions and priorities with respect to a wide range of policy topics. Topics included civic leadership, overall economic confidence, transit and transportation, labour/talent and more. While the vast majority of businesses were confident in their own economic future, a growing number see concerns ahead in 2023. Year-over-year, more businesses reported facing challenges related to the cost of living and their ability to attract and retain talent for key roles. While satisfaction levels with most government services remained fairly stable year-over-year, there were noted decreases in confidence in city council’s ability to make good decisions and respondents’ level of confidence that council priorities align with business needs. 2021 Survey Results

The Brampton Board of Trade worked with Narrative Research to conduct the second annual Business Confidence Index survey of the Brampton Business Community. This year’s survey focused on respondents’ confidence in the economic outlook of their business and the city generally, as well as soliciting views on specific issues such as satisfaction with all levels of governments’ response to the COVID-19 crisis and identifying key infrastructure priority projects for the city.

2020 Survey Results

The Brampton Board of Trade and Narrative Research worked together to survey members of the Brampton Business Community on the topic of Business Confidence. We queried business confidence in a number of areas – not only their enterprise, economic outlook and long-term confidence in Brampton, but also opinions on government COVID response, government city-building initiatives, competitiveness, transit and transportation, trade, innovation, and talent.
