Advocate. Engage. Support
Turning business concerns into action – and results.
Advocacy is more than a mission – it’s our method. At the BBOT, we champion the policy shifts and civic decisions that matter to Brampton’s business community. Your membership gives you a seat at the table, ensuring your business concerns are addressed and your voice is heard by decision-makers. Your challenges become our agenda. Your voice helps shape the future.
OUR MANDATE
We advance policies that make Brampton a better place to do business – by first listening, then leading with purpose.
WHAT IS ADVOCACY?
Advocacy means influence with impact. We don’t just meet with decision-makers – we work with them to co-create solutions that reflect the evolving needs of our members.
OUR PRIORITIES:
Shaped by real business feedback, our key focus areas include:
- Fiscal accountability from government
- Trade and taxation
- Transportation infrastructure & congestion relief
- Affordable housing solutions
- Labour shortages and talent access
- Economic inclusion
We also support broader community issues as a healthy city is a strong business environment.

How We Advocate
Our Policy and Government Relations Committee is the place where our advocacy is incubated. Every month, dedicated volunteers and BBOT staff meet to discuss the most pertinent issues affecting Brampton and develop policy priorities and actionable steps to address them.
We advocate by:
- Engage and collaborate with our members: We maintain open communication with our members to understand the issues that matter most to you, ensuring that our advocacy efforts are relevant and impactful.
- Host educational events: We organize informative events to educate members on how economic trends, political decisions and government policies impact your community and business environment.
- Leverage government relationships: With strong connections to municipal, provincial and federal government, we help ensure that Brampton businesses are represented in the decisions that affect your future.
- Champion community priorities: We work to push policymakers to prioritize the Brampton business community, advocating for change, opposing harmful regulations, and engaging in public discourse about the future of our city.
- Direct advocacy: We take proactive steps to represent your business through hands-on efforts including formal deputations for various levels of government, hosting community forums and meetings with key officials. We also leverage our platforms to advocate for Brampton, including through written communication and social media posts.
