Connectwork – The Art of the Soft Sell

December 8, 2022 – The Art of the Soft Sell – Education over Sales was the topic of the Brampton Board of Trade’s Connectwork meeting this month. The event was hosted at Crock-A-Doodle, a paint-your-own-pottery studio located at 8325 Financial Drive in Brampton.

Connectwork is a networking event geared towards women in business that provides a space for learning, discussion and making connections. Although geared towards women, Connectwork is gender inclusive, and all individuals are encouraged to register.

Pauline Wainwright, a pre-planning advisor with Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries, led the discussion this month, sharing her many years experience in the death care industry and how she prefers to educate customers on their options, rather than pushing a sale. She explained that the customer’s happiness and comfort is of utmost importance and should come before all else.

Attendees joined in and expressed how the same tactics would apply to any type of business, stating no-one walks away from a meeting like that feeling as thought they were pressured into a purchase they are not happy with.

While everyone enjoyed the conversation, Poonam provided decorations for each attendee to paint, and in the end there were beautiful snowmen, gingerbread cookies, trees and stockings for people to take home. Everyone was pleased to have gotten their creative juices flowing and had a lively conversation as well.

We would like to thank our sponsors Maple Lodge Farms, Dynacare, JD Factors and Prouse, Dash & Crouch for giving us the opportunity to bring Brampton business professionals together to share, learn and network.
