July 7, 2022 – The Brampton Board of Trade hosted their monthly Connectwork event, including a discussion on digital storytelling. The event was hosted at Vision Room Studios, an intimate venue with studio rental space, in Brampton.
Connectwork is a networking event geared towards women in business that provides a space for learning, discussion and (as the name implies) making connections. Although geared towards women, Connectwork is gender inclusive, and all individuals are encouraged to register.
Maureen Turner, Manager of Community Networks at the Brampton Board of Trade, called upon her copywriting and social media management days, to start the discussion. She emphasised the importance of being authentic to who you are in the digital space, and always asking yourself “Why?” before posting on any platform.
Digital Storytelling has become a part of everyday life, and an important piece to any marketing strategy for businesses of any size. Everyone has a story to tell, it’s just a matter of deciding how you want to tell yours. Remember: as Marshall Mcluhan said “the medium is the message” – meaning, often, choosing the right platform is even more important than the message itself. Be sure to meet your customers/clients where they are.
We would like to thank our sponsors Maple Lodge Farms, Dynacare, JD Factors and Prouse, Dash & Crouch for giving us the opportunity to bring Brampton business professionals together to share, learn and network.
