On March 1 2023, over 250 guests celebrated International Women’s Day with the Brampton Board of Trade at Lionhead Golf & Conference Centre.
Guests started the evening with some amazing food from local women-run businesses including The Food Quotient, Bean & Pearl, The Grill, Sweet Chandelier and Cookies by Design. Host Lindsay Engel, Dean of FAST at Sheridan College welcomed guests and introduced representatives from Dynacare, presenting sponsor of the event. They shared the legacy of Naseem Somani, and shared the history of the Naseem Somani Memorial Award for Leadership Excellence. The award was then presented to Angela Carter, Executive Director of Roots Community Services by Naaz Jetha, Naseem Somani’s sister.
Mayor Patrick Brown and Councillor Santos were on-site and offered congratulatory remarks. Finally, guests heard from keynote speaker Julie Cole, co-founder of Mable’s Labels who shared her strategies and outlooks for handling the motherload.
