Brampton Board of Trade CEO Shares Brampton Businesses Priorities with Minister of Finance

On January 12 we were pleased to host Ontario Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy. This is the third year in a row that he has chosen the Brampton Board of Trade to engage with local stakeholders during the pre-budget consultation process. Minister Bethlenfalvy delivered keynote remarks highlighting the government’s recent commitments to Brampton and broader investments across the province. After his remarks, BBOT CEO Jaipaul Massey-Singh joined him for a fireside chat where Jaipaul pressed business community priorities for Budget 2024. These included the need to support initiatives that help to solve the skills and talent shortage, the importance of investing in growth-enabling infrastructure such as the Main Street LRT Extension and scaling our local healthcare capacity to keep pace with population growth. Thanks for all of the Board of Trade members and partners who attended and made this another successful pre-budget event.

Later in the day, Jaipaul participated in the province’s pre-budget consultation. The format invited key stakeholders to address Minister Bethlenfalvy, as well as local MPPs, outlining their priorities for Budget 2024. Jaipaul reiterated the need for investments in skills training and workforce development, as well as investments to help our healthcare capacity keep pace with the scale of population growth.
