There’s one person who seems to always be at the near-daily announcements about investments in Ontario’s advanced manufacturing sector – the Honourable Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation & Trade. It was terrific to host him on May 29th for a conversation with Brampton Board of Trade members about his portfolio of work and what it means for our city.
Minister Fedeli talked at length about the Ontario advantage – the multiple factors that converge to make our province and region an attractive place to expand or open a business. By his telling, we have seen unprecedented investment over the past several years that’s resulted in significant job growth and economic development.
The biggest recurring theme was the electric vehicle manufacturing sector. A factor that the event highlighted was how comparatively clean Ontario-made EVs are – every component that goes into making the cars is greener than parts made in neighbouring jurisdictions. This is a sector that will only become bigger and take on an even more significant economic footprint in our province.
If there’s one take-away for attendees from the minister’s presentation, it’s that this is an exciting time for Ontario – there’s a lot happening, and Brampton is at the heart of it.
