On January 11th the Brampton Board of Trade welcomed Ontario Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy, where he kicked off the province’s 2023 Pre-Budget Consultation from our podium. Minister Bethlenfalvy joined Board of Trade Chair Daniel Lewis in conversation about the big issues that matter to Brampton businesses.
The two chatted about Ontario’s overall economic climate, including debt loads and tax rates, as well as the need to invest in critical infrastructure such as the Main Street LRT Extension and a third hospital. Minister Bethlenfalvy stressed the importance of presenting strong business cases to win the competition for senior government funding among many municipalities.
Thanks to the more than 70 people who packed the room for the start off this very important consultation process, as well local elected officials including city councillors and Members of Provincial Parliament who took the time to join us and provide their feedback!
Over the next few weeks, the Brampton Board of Trade will be preparing its formal written pre-budget submission to the Government of Ontario.
