Connectwork met at 9:00 am Tuesday morning at Brampton’s ErinoakKids Centre for a presentation on the importance of respite in our daily lives. ErinoakKids is Ontario’s largest children’s treatment centre, providing a broad range of medical, therapeutic and support services to children and youth with physical and developmental disabilities, autism, communication disorders, and children who are deaf or blind. While the centre provides respite for medically-complex and developmentally challenged patients, respite is important for all of us who struggle to juggle the demands of a busy life. From Super Mom’s and Dedicated Dad’s, to our supporting family and friends – it’s important to know when to take time to rest, heal and recharge so you can be the best version of yourself for you and your family.
Fiona D’Silva -Coelho and Renae Addis were incredibly welcoming and provided inspiring guided tours through the facility. We truly left the event with a profound appreciation for the Erinoak community and all that they do for patients and families that utilize their services. The state-of-the-art facility boasts a therapy pool, 100% accessible spaces including bedrooms, kitchen areas, laundry rooms, gymnasiums and more. The centre boasts an overwhelming number of volunteers and is launching a 5 year, 10 million dollar fundraising campaign to raise funds for their Respite Program that is only partially funded by the government. You can go to their website to make a one time donation, or to become monthly donors, or to make a planned gift.
