The Brampton Board of Trade had a successful weekend at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Calgary. Hundreds of delegates from across the Chamber network came together for several jam-packed days of learning and networking. We connected with valuable regional and national partners, such as our friends at the Port of Montreal and our colleagues from the Canadian Global Cities Council and the Innovation Corridor Business Council. The focal point of the weekend was 6 hours of vigorous policy debate spread across two days, where delegates debated proposed policy resolutions, with successful resolutions becoming the basis of the Chamber’s federal-facing advocacy.
The Brampton Board of Trade was proud that the two resolutions we co-sponsored, one related to strengthening employment opportunities and labour market resources for newcomers and the other calling for fairer tax treatment, passed with strong support. We were delighted to speak in favour of the Mississauga Board of Trade’s resolution calling for increased support for refugees, which passed near-unanimously.
