The Annual Brampton Business Excellence Awards (BEAs), hosted by the Brampton Board of Trade, unfolded on May 2nd, 2024, recognizing 12 outstanding businesses and business leaders for their exceptional contributions to the Brampton business community and beyond. Held at the Pearson Convention Centre, the event garnered over 350 attendees spanning various sectors in Brampton, representing a network of more than 90 businesses. The evening was guided by Kiran Rai (KayRay), Co-Founder of the Kollective, an innovative agency specializing in amplifying brands through creative avenues. Joining her as co-host was our very own Louis Vouloukos, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Brampton Board of Trade, whose law firm, Lawrences, celebrates 100 years in Brampton. Jaipaul Massey-Singh drew attention to all of the major anniversaries in the room given that the City of Brampton is celebrating 50 years of incorporation.
Among the highlights of the ceremony, notable recognitions included the presentation of The Chair’s Award to Badar Shamim, a dedicated member and former Chair of the Brampton Board of Trade, and the distinction of Business Person of the Year bestowed upon Asima Vezina, President and Vice-Chancellor of Algoma University. Noteworthy for its significant expansion within downtown Brampton, Algoma University continues to demonstrate a commitment to growth and community investment, most recently in the development of new student residences.
