As Jaipaul Massey-Singh, CEO of the Brampton Board of Trade put it, “Our award winners are a testament to the innovation, resilience, and community spirit that define Brampton’s business landscape. We are proud to recognize those who are driving economic growth and making a positive impact in our city.”
There were many highlights of the ceremony, including:
The Business Person of the Year this year belonged to Bill Kanellopoulos, President of Kallo Developments. A visionary leader and entrepreneur, Bill’s decades-long impact – from his early days in hospitality to shaping Brampton’s skyline through real estate- reflects his unwavering dedication to the City of Brampton’s growth, community, and future. The tribute video and his speech were inspiring and if you weren’t in the room, you truly missed out on something special!
The presentation of The Chair’s Award went to Johanne Rappoccio, Vice-President of Operations at Bempro Global Group. She is a dedicated member, former Director, and former Treasurer of the Brampton Board of Trade, and her speech was truly moving.
The Board of Trade also recognized 100 years of Peel Memorial Hospital with an emotional tribute by CEO Jaipaul Massey-Singh. For context, Peel Memorial owes its roots to a group of twelve community-minded women and veterans whose collective vision, perseverance and fundraising efforts brought this hospital’s site to life. Fast forward to 2004, and The Board’s involvement in saving Peel Memorial, which was slated to be closed, came to light with the “Save Our Hospital Campaign”. This initiative set the bar for our healthcare advocacy, which continues to be strong over a decade later.
With that, we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making the evening feel so special for so many. Thank you to our venue, media, and gift bag partners, and a special thank you goes out to the nominees and all our sponsors as seen above, without whom the event couldn’t be possible. Until next year’s BEA’s….
