Every October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) shines a spotlight on Disabled talent. While I love seeing organizations celebrate the Disability community, of which I am a proud member, true equity can’t be wrapped up when November arrives. Accessibility isn’t a seasonal project; it’s an everyday commitment everyone has a role in.
As a neurodivergent and Disabled HR/DEIA consultant, I founded Accessible Creates because I experienced the exact workplace barriers; I now help organizations address and dismantle them.
NDEAM is a great starting point, but my goal is to help you build a culture where disabled and neurodiverse employees don’t just get hired; they survive and thrive, 365 days a year.
How We Turn Awareness into Everyday Action
Moving past “tick-box” inclusion requires looking directly at your systems. At Accessible Creates, I partner with businesses, non-profits, and community groups to embed accessibility directly into their operational DNA:
- Strategic HR and Policy Audits: We’ll dive into your job postings, recruitment workflows, and internal policies to eliminate hidden barriers and align with accessibility compliance (like the AODA).
- Interactive Workplace Training: I facilitate real, scenario-based workshops that move past theory and give your team practical tools to foster genuine psychological safety.
- Targeted Coaching and Support: I work directly with managers, job seekers, and neurodiverse or disabled staff to navigate workplace dynamics with confidence.
Accessibility Is Simpler Than You Think
“Inclusion isn’t about ticking boxes for one month of the year; it’s about creating humancentered spaces where everyone can bring their full selves to work every day.”
One of the biggest misconceptions I tackle is that accessibility requires massive budgets or complete operational overhauls. In reality, real inclusion often comes down to simple, high-impact structural shifts, like flexible scheduling, plain-language communications, clear feedback channels, and plain old empathy. NDEAM gives us the momentum, but the real work happens in the quiet choices we make every day. Let’s work together to make your workplace a space where everyone belongs.
