For the past two years, the Brampton Board of Trade has consistently advocated for a dedicated fourth track along the CN Halton Subdivision to eliminate the chronic pinch point in Downtown Brampton and unlock true two-way, all-day GO transit unencumbered by freight traffic.
Following the release of the Metrolinx Public Information Centre (PIC No. 1) Summary Report for the Kitchener GO Corridor Expansion, that collective effort has achieved a critical milestone.
In the official consultation record, Metrolinx confirmed that it will specifically evaluate the feasibility of a fourth track through Downtown Brampton via a dedicated Environmental Project Report (EPR) Addendum, coordinated alongside the Hazel McCallion Line extension. This formal commitment ensures that the downtown corridor’s long-term capacity is directly on the transit planning agenda.
