Sustainability on the Agenda at Board of Trade

It was a “green” week at the Brampton Board of Trade as we hosted two important roundtables that served to help identify opportunities for industry to work together and for government to be responsive to business feedback. With nearly 50 participants across the two sessions, we saw there is a strong appetite for more opportunities to learn about meeting environmental goals as we begin preparations for our second annual Energy & Environment Forum in April.
Our first roundtable was a facilitated discussion featuring established companies, including national and international brands, where they shared their biggest sustainability-related challenges and several start-ups that have worked with Altitude Accelerator presented their solutions. There was a commitment to continue dialogue to find ways to adopt emerging technologies to the most urgent environmental challenges.
Later in the week, Ontario Minister of the Environment David Piccini joined us for a discussion with community partners. Topics covered better targeting of environmental protection measures to maximize their impact, how processes can be improved to remove duplication between levels of government and how shovel-ready projects can be started faster.
We look forward to continuing the discussion on sustainability over the rest of 2023 – keep an eye out for more details on our Energy & Environment Forum in April!
