How We Use the BCI
The BCI provides essential direction for BBOT’s advocacy work. In recent years, survey results have highlighted that the top concerns for Brampton businesses include housing, transportation, and labour. These insights directly guide the events and conversations we convene throughout the year.
Brampton in Motion, now in its second year, is our signature city-building symposium focused on housing and transportation.
Moving the Needle is our mid-year event dedicated to housing affordability for young people—another priority that emerged from the BCI.
Workforce Recharged addresses labour shortages, skills development, and talent retention, reflecting ongoing concerns identified by local employers.
The BCI also informs our positions on major advocacy files. Insights from members support our work on the LRT and two-way, all-day GO service. Last year’s survey showed strong support for greater density around major transit station areas (MTSAs), which has shaped our stance on enabling gentle density in Brampton.
Last year’s BCI also revealed that negative perceptions of Brampton remain a top concern for businesses. This insight has driven initiatives like our podcast, new video content, and several upcoming projects focused on telling Brampton’s story more positively and accurately.
Who Should Complete the BCI?
If you own, manage, or operate a business in Brampton—or if your business serves Brampton—you should complete the BCI. Even if others in your organization have already participated, your perspective still matters. We aim to capture a wide range of insights from business leaders across our community.
What’s New in This Year’s BCI?
With 2026 being a municipal election year, this year’s survey includes questions on civic engagement, voting intentions, knowledge gaps, and how BBOT can support outreach on key local issues. In 2026, we will also evaluate the impact of our advocacy interventions.
Complete the BCI today and help shape Brampton’s business environment.
